Separately Managed Accounts (SMAs) are outsourced investment portfolios / strategies tailored to meet the specific preferences, risk tolerance, and objectives of an individual investor or institutional client. Unlike pooled investment funds where multiple investors share a single portfolio, SMAs allow investors to retain direct ownership of assets and maintain transparency without their holdings leaving their Deribit account.
Deribit offers multiple SMA solutions and the differences & investment strategies are shown below. In the end the client enters into an agreement with the SMA and once the strategy, fees etc are agreed upon, the client shares an API key with the SMA for a specific Deribit-sub account. This key should not have the ability to withdraw funds.
