This article explains the coin recovery process for unsupported or incorrect deposit operations made to Deribit wallets. While we aim to assist users in recovering their assets whenever possible, recovery is not guaranteed and is evaluated case-by-case. Please carefully read the conditions below.
We consider recovery attempts for the following types of deposit issues:
-
Unsupported blockchain used – e.g., sending assets via a blockchain not supported by Deribit.
-
Unsupported crypto sent – e.g., sending a token that Deribit does not list or recognize.
-
XRP deposits using an old address format with no tag/memo – XRP deposits require a destination tag. Transactions without a tag or with an incorrect tag may still be recoverable with a fee.
-
Use of pre-November 2022 Deribit wallet addresses – deposits sent to outdated wallet addresses may be recoverable under specific conditions.
-
Multiple deposits made in a single transaction to the same wallet – not all such transactions are recognized automatically by our systems.
-
Deposits made to non-KYCed accounts – coin recovery might be possible if the account completes KYC verification.
-
Deposits made to blocked, disabled, or terminated accounts – recovery may depend on the account status and history.
Note
-
Recovery requests are processed via email or ticket submission only. We do not offer support through live chat, phone calls, or social media for these cases.
-
The possibility of recovery must be confirmed individually by the support team.
-
The process is free of charge, except for XRP-related recoveries, which are subject to a 5% fee (minimum of $25 in XRP) for any transaction:
-
Sent without a destination tag.
-
Sent with an incorrect destination tag.
-
-
Recovery typically takes 2 to 4 weeks, depending on the complexity and available data.
-
If recovery is approved, coins will be returned to a wallet address of your choosing. You will be asked to provide this address during the email exchange with the support team.
To initiate a recovery request, you must use the email address registered to your Deribit account. Send an email to support@deribit.com, or open a ticket at https://support.deribit.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
