We offer a Precision Time Protocol (PTP) service to our colocated and cross connected customers. It needs to be enabled on request. If you are interested in using this service, please contact colo-support@coinbase.com. They will send you an agreement to sign. Once we have received the signed agreement we will configure your switch ports to provide you with the time feed.
You can use these settings to use the service:
We have configured your cross-connect ports for PTP. You can start implementation on your side whenever you are ready.
We are using:
-
announce interval: -3 (8 per second)
-
sync-message interval: -4 (16 per second)
Please use these settings to setup your client application(s):
-
ptp domain: 10
-
ptp version: v2
-
protocol: multicast (for the announces and followups)
-
deplay request interval: -4 (16 per second)
-
timescale: PTP
-
mechanism: e2e
We allow you to choose between multicast and hybrid mode for delay request/response communication. You may need to configure your device to send traffic to the multicast/unicast PTP address(es) using the correct interface (the one(s) connecting to the exchange) instead of your default route to be able to get the delay request/response working. This is not handled through BGP as there is no routing involved on our side for PTP traffic.
For technical assistance, once the ports have been configured, you can reach out to colo-support@coinbase.com.
