Warning
The cross connect equalization service will not be active until 15 June 2026. LOA requests and cross connect orders placed before this date will be processed, but the service will not be operational until then.
Deribit is committed to providing equal access to all customers trading on our exchange. At Equinix LD4, we facilitate equal-distance access to our gateways through our cross connect equalization service. This page explains how equalization works and what you need to know when ordering cross connects to Deribit.
Cross connects landing on the Deribit exchange at LD4 (where Deribit is the Z-side) are engineered to provide equivalent latency between customer demarcation points and Deribit demarcation points.
-
Target precision: Deribit equalizes one-way latency between customers and our edge switches to within 10 nanoseconds.
-
Equalization distance: Latencies are equalized to approximately 300 meters, which is sufficient to reach any location within LD4.
All equalized cross connects provide direct access to both the previous and Starbase matching engines.
When ordering a new cross connect to Deribit at LD4:
-
For a connection to the exchange: Request a Letter of Authorization (LOA) from Deribit for each of the 2 cross connects. Indicate these are connections to the exchange. Each LOA is issued to one of our several equalized demarcation points, each with a different path between your and our infrastructure.
-
For a connection to a colo hosted server: Request as many Letters of Authorization (LOA) from Deribit as you need connections for to your server(s). Indicate these are connections to your colo server, and which server and port. Each LOA is issued to one of the non-equalized demarcation points. This facilitates diverse paths for your fiber cross connections.
Place the cross connect order with Equinix as you would for any other cross connect. The equalization service is provided at no additional cost from Deribit. You remain responsible for any Equinix setup fees and monthly recurring charges per your contract with them. Equinix and Deribit will take care of the equalization of the lengths of your fibers to the same lengths for our other customers within LD4.
Note
LOAs are not issued for non-equalized demarcation points, except where they terminate on colo-hosted customer servers.
Deribit may periodically disconnect one of your redundant connections to perform latency measurements and verification.
-
Disconnections are performed at random moments by our engineers.
-
An announcement is made 1 hour in advance.
-
Your infrastructure must automatically fail over to the redundant connection at any moment.
Such interruptions can also occur due to unplanned failure scenarios. Properly configured redundancy ensures the loss of a single connection will not affect your trading or communication with the exchange.
Warning
Always maintain two redundant connections with automatic failover.
